A palace almost erased, yet still standing — stubbornly elegant in silence.Built in the late 19th century, this lesser-known gem in Zamalek belonged to Prince Ismail Tawfik, a member of Egypt’s royal lineage.
Its European-style architecture, lush gardens, and quiet placement along the Nile once made it a symbol of aristocratic retreat.
Today, it hides behind high walls and modern noise — abandoned, off-limits, but not invisible.
I found a gap in the gate and peeked in — what I saw was haunting. Peeling frescoes, cracked marble, but an unmistakable grace.
I couldn’t help but sketch its past and present state, piecing the story together through shadows and instinct.
This isn’t a building we pass by — it’s one we’ve forgotten to remember.
